PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To rightly execute printing judgment or recognition though there are the variation of brightness, generation of noise, etc., by judging through the use of histogram data of each of a using segment group and not-using segment group. SOLUTION: A character pattern discriminating device discriminates coincidence/non-coincidence with an object segment character pattern by referring to the contents of the using/non-using division code dictionary memory of each segment of a previously prospected segment character pattern. Since a printed character is known (an alphabet f, e.g.), dictionary data corresponding to the character is read from a memory and the largest derivations K1 to K7 are divided into a first group belonging to a using segment and a second group belonging to a non-using segment. Concerning the first group, the derivation being the smallest in the dictionary is obtained and concerning the second group, the derivation being the largest in the group is obtained to compare the large/ small of both of them to judge whether the character is a normally printed character or not (whether printing is correct or not). |
