LIMITED RECEIVING METHOD FOR DIGITAL BROADCASTING SYSTEM AND SET-TOP BOX

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To execute a much stronger limited receiving function by operating the limited receiving function on the basis of the result comparing personal information previously registered in a limited receiving module with personal information which is inputted when a set-top box receives scrambled broadcasting information. SOLUTION: Concerning a subscriber house having a set-top box 16 freely attachably and detachably provided with a CA module packaging the limited receiving function, personal information (fingerprint) is previously registered in the CA module. When the box 16 receives scrambled broadcasting, the input of the personal information is requested by a TV receiver 17 and a viewer compares the personal information inputted to a reader 19 of a remote controller 18 with the previously registered personal information. On the basis of this compared result, the CA module of the box 16 operates the limited receiving function and the broadcasting of a broadcasting device 11 of a CATV station is viewed by the TV receiver 17 or error is displayed. Thus, the much stronger limited receiving function can be provided.
