PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To simplify and miniaturize a driving mechanism moving an optical pickup between a recording/reproducing position of a first medium and a recording/reproducing position of a second medium. SOLUTION: A supporting body 45 is placed rotatably through a base 44 on a sub-chassis 39 being movable vertically for a main chassis, and a turn table 57 for CD having a driving gear 57a, a turn table 58 for MD, and an optical pickup 54 are mounted on the supporting body 45. A driven gear train 46 provided on the base is always engaged with a rack 39 for self-running provided on a sub-chassis 39, the driving gear 57a and the driven gear train 46 are selectively engaged with the rotation operation of the supporting body 45, at the time of switching from reproduction of a CD to recording/reproduction of a MD, after the driving gear 57a is engaged with the driven gear train 46 with the rotation of the supporting body 45, a driving force of a spindle motor for CD is transmitted to the driven gear 46 through the turn table 57 for CD, the base 44 is moved with the supporting body 45 in the horizontal direction, successively the sub-chassis 39 is moved to a lower side, and an optical pickup 54 is got under a holder.
