PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To unnecessitate the succeeding data restoration processing and to improve operation efficiency by evading degradation operation and enabling reading/writing processing of data to continue when a driving device is in an abnormal state. SOLUTION: At the time of specifying a mount row 0 from a host device, mounting is performed on a mount row 0 of each unit u1-u6 as a dot line A'. Then, when a drive row 0 of the unit u2 is an abnormal drive, medium mounting is not performed on it, the unit u2 is retrieved, a medium is mounted on a drive row 1. Further, when a mount row 2 is specified and an abnormality is detected in a mount row 2, the unit is retrieved, but as a mount row 0 is already used and a medium can not be mounted, mounting is performed on a mount row 1. Then, a medium can be mounted on a normal all drive. Thus, drive being unable to use is automatically evaded, scramble mounting can be performed utilizing drive of the same units u1-u6, therefore, degradation operation can be evaded.
