METHOD AND DEVICE FOR RETRIEVING VIDEO AND STORAGE MEDIUM RECORDING VIDEO RETRIEVAL PROGRAM

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To deal with timewise extension/contraction on the basis of time sequential changes in the feature vector of a video by finding an inter-pattern distance between a partial pattern selected out of a standard pattern extracted and stored out of a retrieval object video and a feature pattern extracted out of a retrieval key video and searching out a similar block. SOLUTION: Standard and feature pattern extracting means 2 and 5 convert inputted retrieval object video and retrieval key video to the standard and feature patterns of time sequential features. An inter-pattern distance acquiring means 6 calculates and finds the inter-pattern distance between the partial pattern selected out of standard patterns stored by a standard pattern storage means 3 and the feature pattern. A similar block searching means 7 narrows the candidates of the similar block from the set of the partial pattern in the standard patterns to be the candidates of the retrieved result obtained from the acquiring means 6 and the inter-pattern distance and the similar block is outputted by a similar block output means 8. Thus, a video is inputted as a retrieval key and the similar video can be retrieved.
