PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make it possible to decrease the number of parts and to improve space efficiency by connecting a band-like brake member which imparts friction brake to driving power transmission changeover and a take-up reel turntable and a driving power transmission changeover member at both ends of the brake member. SOLUTION: A spring manipulation arm 121 is energized clockwise by a slider and a tension spring 124 hooked between the spring manipulation arm 121 and a tension arm 119 generates 'strong' pulling load at the time of recording or reproducing. A tension band L120 which is mounted at the tension arm 119 and is held wound around a supply reel turntable 11 imparts load to the supply reel turntable 11 and imparts the prescribed tension to a magnetic tape 1. The control groove of the slider 105 directly energizes the manipulation arm 13 in a counterclockwise direction and a tension band R118 which is connected thereto and is held wound is loosened of the tightening by winding on the take-up reel turntable 12 side.
