PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a data communication system that can efficiently control re-transmission of data by re-transmitting only a missing part of the data. SOLUTION: A missing packet detection circuit 27 in a printer 102 detects a missing packet (a line number of image data) and transmits a re-transmission request command of the detected missing packet to a recording and reproducing device 101. The recording and reproducing device 101 retransmits image data of the line number included in the re-transmission request command. The printer 102 corrects a missing part of the image data having been received first with the re-transmitted image data.
