PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a disk unit which is connected to a personal computer and which can be used in common for a desktop-type personal computer and a laptop-type personal computer. SOLUTION: In this disk unit, a disk as a recording medium is mounted on, and unloaded from, a disk unit body 11A. This disk unit is constituted so as to install a disk mounting and unloading mechanism by which the disk is moved between an ejection position and a mounting position when a disk tray 12 is moved with reference to the disk unit body 11A. The disk unit is constituted so as to install a lid body 14 which is installed at the disk unit body 11A so as to be freely opened and closed and which is constituted in such a way that the disk can be mounted and unloaded with reference to the disk tray 12 in a mounting position inside the disk unit body 11A in a state that a lid is opened.
