PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an information recording device in which recording conditions are precisely set while reproducing test signals by appropriately setting the conversion range of an A/D converter. SOLUTION: When test signals recorded in the PA of a DVD-R20 of the information recording device is reproduced, the reproduced signals are converted into digital data by an A/D converter 30. The data are held in a buffer memory 34 for every signal kind through a data separating section 33. Then, a CPU21 detects a peak value and a bottom value of signal waveforms employing the data of the memory 34. Based on these values and considering a margin, computations are made for upper limit level data to be set in a first D/A converter 31 and lower limit level data to be set in a second D/A converter 32. Then, the level data are converted into analog signals by the converters 31 and 32 and are applied to the conversion range setting terminal of the converter 30. Thus, the conversion range of the converter 30 is set to an optimum range in accordance with the amplitudes of the reproduced signals and an A/D conversion is conducted in the converter 30 with a proper resolution.
