PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a halftone screen which can improve color reproducibility. SOLUTION: A basic hexagonal cell 1 is divided into hexagonal cells (surrounded by thin lines) 2, which respectively have the apexes of the cell 1 at their centers and have smaller size than that of the cell 1. When a certain color dot, for example, a black dot 3 is placed at the center of the cell 1 and other color dots (for example, magenta dots 4 or cyan dots 5) are placed at the centers of the divided calls 2, the dots can be arranged in such a way that the dots are separated from each other as far as possible. Yellow dots 6 may be placed at appropriate locations.
