摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a device having high light emission efficiency and excellent uniformity of a light source in a screen and to use a low voltage driving power supply circuit by dividing the longer side lines of a light guide plate into a plurality of blocks and disposing a plurality of linear lamps continuously in the longitudinal direction. SOLUTION: The back light consists of a rectangular light guide plate GLB consisting of a transparent material and two linear lamps CFL continuously arranged on each side face along the longitudinal direction of the side lines facing each other. A reflection sheet SRS consisting of a white film having high reflectance is adhered to the side face where no lamp is arranged so as to reflect and effectively use the light propagating in the light guide plate GLB. A high frequency AC voltage generating circuit INV as the power supply circuit to drive the back light is disposed for each two linear lamps CFL. Thereby, the back light for a liquid crystal display device having a large screen size can be constituted by using linear lamps CFL which are driven at a low voltage, and the low voltage driving power supply circuit (high frequency AC voltage generating circuit INV) can be used.
