PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain picture quality high in uniformity by improving cooling efficiency of polarizing plates and suppressing uneven color and uneven brightness by suppressing birefringence due to heat of the polarizing plates. SOLUTION: Polarizing plates 22, 22 are separately stuck to glass plates (transparent plates) 23, 23. The glass plate 23 is held with a holder 24 to construct this polarizing light optical component 19. In this case, the side of the holder 24 exposed to cooling wind generated by a cooling fan (a cooling means) 34 is opened and simultaneously the polarizing light optical component 19 is arranged at the position being away from a liquid crystal panel 20 and a dichroic prism (an optical multiplexing prism). |
