PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To detect the contour pattern of each local part of a picture by judging a contour detecting direction by the pattern of an array consisting of plural coincident number counting values. SOLUTION: A pixel fetching circuit 2 blocks an inputted video signal and its output is binarized by a binarizing circuit 3. Mode coincidence detecting circuits 4-1 to 4 execute mode coincidence detecting processing to binarize pixel data and based on its output data, coincidence number counting circuits 5-1 to 4 count the number of coincidences of each mode. Based on an array consisting of the counting values of the counted modes (I) to (IV), the pattern judging circuit 6 of a poststage executes processing. The output of the circuit 6 is inputted to a pattern ratio judging circuit 7 and at the same time of this, outputted to outside as the pattern judging result of each block. The circuit 7 totals pattern data outputted from the circuit 6 by the unit of one field and makes the pattern of the largest ratio into a label to output it. |
