PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a data collection device which can utilize the advantage of multiple terminal decision type, can be installed at arbitrary positions of a transmission/distribution line and does not need a large scale and expensive long distance communication infrastructure. SOLUTION: A data collection device has a digital conversion unit 111, which converts analog electrical values collected at arbitrary positions on a transmission/distribution line 401, a calculation unit 112 which calculates electric values according to the outputs of the digital conversion unit 111 and a transmission function unit 113, which transmits the electrical values calculated by the calculation unit 112 to a transmission destination by wireless telephone, etc. The device can be installed on towers or poles erected at a plurality of arbitrary positions of the transmission/distribution line 401.
