PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To detect with precision the position and/or size of an object contained in a 3-dimension information with symmetry. SOLUTION: To an object 10 represented by 3-dimension form data with symmetry, a first specified region A1 is set on one side with symmetry, and the first specified region A1 is inverted with respect to the symmetrical plane to generate a template. A template matching is performed on the other side with symmetry for detecting a second specified region A2. The X coordinate at the center positions of the first and second specified regions are acquired as X1 and X2, with the center positions provided as the position of the object 10 while a differential value as an information for estimating the size of the object 10.
