PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To form an electrode pattern to adsorb ionic impurities mixed in a liquid crystal layer without increasing the production processes and to prevent ionic impurities influences on the display by providing the input signal to the electrode pattern. SOLUTION: Gate signal lines 203 and source signal lines 204 are partly overlapped with pixel electrodes through an interlayer insulating film consisting of an org. material formed on the pixel electrodes. The interlayer insulating film is extended to the peripheral region of the display pixel region, and an electrode pattern 105 to adsorb ionic impurities is formed thereon in the peripheral region. A DC potential of a polarity opposite to that of the ionic impurities is applied on the electrode pattern 105.
