PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To protect a storing medium by preventing performing simultaneously feed operation performed by a carrier holder and load/unload operation performed by a drive device. SOLUTION: A changer control section 7 receives a feed instruction from a host controller 5 through a control interface 6, takes out a desired storage medium D from a storage shelf, mounts on a feed holder 4, and moves it to a specified drive device 2. A switch 12 is turned off by this movement, a loader driving circuit 10 is cut off, and feeding operation is performed. After feed is finished and the host controller 5 is informed of it, a load instruction is sent to a drive control section 8, a power source of the loader section driving circuit 10 and the switch 12 are turned on, a loader section 9 is raised by a loading motor 11, the storage medium D is held, after the drive control section 8 transmits a loading finish report to the host controller 5, as a data reading/ writing control instruction is returned and read-out and write-in for the storage medium D are performed by this, feeding operation and loading operation are carried out not simultaneously.
