PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make executable a proper exposure when executing a stroboscopic image pick-up. SOLUTION: The camera which is provided with a built-in stroboscope 16 and further can be connected to an external stroboscope 20, has distance information acquisition means 15, 17 to acquire the distance information corresponding to the distance to a subject and a control means 17 which controls so as to preferentially use the external stroboscope when the external stroboscope is connected and controls so as to use the built-in stroboscope even if the external stroboscope is connected when the distance to the subject corresponding to the distance information acquired by the distance information acquisition means is equal to or below a predetermined distance. Consequently, an exposure irregularity due to parallax when connecting the external stroboscope can be prevented and a proper exposure can be executed.
