PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To easily form a wet latent image with rays of light having relatively low intensity by providing a photo-hydrophilizable layer containing a specified metal oxide and producing hydrophilic property when irradiated with rays of light. SOLUTION: The printing plate 1 has a photo-hydrophilizable layer 1b containing a metal oxide of a 4th to 6th period metal e.g. TiO2 and producing hydrophilic property when irradiated with rays of light. The metal oxide preferably has 1.5-3.6 eV band gap. The printing plate 1 is obtained, e.g. by disposing a photo-hydrophilizable layer 1b comprising a film of TiO2 (having 3.2e V band gap) on the surface of a substrate 1a comprising an Ni-Cr alloy sheet. The photo-hydrophilizable layer 1b is formed by a sol-gel process. |
