PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a magnetic recording and reproducing device capable of receiving the same broadcast signal in the same channel as that of an outside broadcasting receiver by allowing the broadcasting receiver to have the commonality or dependency of channels. SOLUTION: This device is provided with a VTR tuner 3 which demodulates a reception signal 6 corresponding to VTR reception frequency information 9 from a broadcast radio signal 34, a VTR channel memory 17 which stores the VTR reception frequency information preset for each VTR channel, a remote computer transmitting circuit 12 which outputs the infrared remote control code of the selected VTR channel to a TV 21, an input terminal 31 to which an outside signal 11 demodulated from the broadcast radio signal 20 according to the VTR cannel in the TV 21 is inputted, and a VTR control circuit 18 which outputs the selected VTR channel to the TV 21, and which changes the reception frequency information 9 to be inputted to the VTR tuner 3, and judges whether or not the reception signal 6 is made coincident with an outside signal 11, and presets the reception frequency information 9 to the selected VTR channel when the reception signal 6 is matched with the outside signal 11.
