PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and device for manufacturing a magnetic recording medium by vacuum deposition utilizing a high frequency inductive heating method, wherein problems due to leakage of a melted magnetic material are controlled. SOLUTION: This is a device for manufacturing a magnetic recording medium, which is provided with an evaporating source 11 hating a first crucible 12 provided with a magnetic material storing section upwardly opened, a high frequency inductive heating means 13 disposed outside of the first crucible for heating and evaporating a magnetic material 10 in the magnetic material storing section 12a and a packing material 14 which consists of a ceramic refractory having a >=1,800 deg.C melting point and is disposed between the first crucible and the high frequency inductive heating means.
