PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a image display device capable of displaying plural types of picture signals of different specifications without requiring a memory of high capacity. SOLUTION: This image display device is provided with a picture signal processing circuit 21 processing an input picture signal, a PLL circuit 4 generating a clock signal, a discriminating means 1 discriminating the format of the input picture signal, and a designating means designating the format of an image to be displayed. It is also provided with a driver control signal generating means generating control signals for gate and source drivers driving a display panel in accordance with the format of the image to be displayed, a driver control signal switching means selecting control signals for the gate and source drivers outputted by the driver control signal generating means on the basis of the format discrimination and the display format designation of the input picture signal, and a PLL signal control means 2 controlling the clock signal of the PLL circuit 4 on the basis of the format discrimination and the display format designation of the input picture signal. |
