PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make it possible to obtain high-quality images with a high S/N ratio at a high speed in a device for reading out radiation image data by using an image recording sheet. SOLUTION: This device has an image recording component 10 including a storage phosphor layer 12 and an image read-out component 20 as a solid image detector that is equipped with a photoconductive layer 23 consisting of a-Se and stripe electrodes 22 and 26 composed of elements 22a and 26a whose pixels are divided, and a radiation image detection sheet 1 that is laminated opposite to the phosphor layer 12 on the side of the stripe electrode 26 is used. Radiation image signals are obtained by recording images through the irradiation of the phosphor layer 12 with radiation L2, scanning images in the longitudinal direction of the element 22a with excitation light L3 which is shaped like a line and whose wavelength is nearly 600 nm while applying an electric field to a photoconductive layer 23 with a voltage application means 82 and detecting electric charges generated in the photoconductive layer 23 for each element 22a through the incidence of stimulable luminescent light L4 with a wavelength of nearly 400 nm emitted from the layer 12 on the layer 23.
