<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a high aperture rate an to display an image of good quality. SOLUTION: The aperture rate is made high by using as a compensating capacitor Cs an additional capacitor type which uses gate lines 10 (10a, 10b) corresponding to an adjacent pixel electrode row as a compensating capacity electrode and the capacitance of the additional capacity type compensating capacitor Cs is set to <=1.4 time the liquid crystal capacity between the pixel electrode 3 and a counter electrode when liquid crystal molecules of a liquid crystal layer rise at right angles to a counter electrode and are aligned. Consequently, the rounding of voltage-transmissivity characteristic and the generation of a flicker are nearly eliminated to display an image of good quality.</p> |
