PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make properly synchronizable between the timing of image pick-up and the timing of light emission of a stroboscope. SOLUTION: The camera 10 executes communication of information among an image pick-up means 13, an optical signal generating means 18 to send out the optical light signal to a stroboscopic device 20 connected externally and the stroboscopic device. In this case, the camera has a communicating means 12 which transmits to the stroboscopic device information corresponding to a time interval from a time the optical signal is outputted by the optical signal generating means to a time when the image pick-up means starts an image pick-up operation and further to a time when a stroboscopic light emission means 23 of the stroboscopic device starts the light emission operation, and a timing generating means 17 to make the image pick-up operation to start at the timing corresponding to the time interval.
