A field lens constituting a projection lens, aligned with the optical axis of the projection lens, and having a positive focal length is arranged in front of a reflection panel, and the arrangement of the field lens and an illuminating optical system is so determined that the optical axis of illuminating light before passing through the field lens falls, after refracted by the field lens, at a predetermined angle on the general center of the reflection panel. The illuminating optical system and the projection lens can be made telecentric without increasing the number of lenses and enlarging the entire lens system.
