The invention relates to a colour image projector which has a long-lasting light source with a high level of overall light intensity and low heat loss development, very little or no unwanted noise from the fans and a simple, robust construction. The inventive projector is suitable for projecting coloured large-screen images with high definition (e.g. HDTV), high contrast and high colour brightness. To this end, a control circuit controls large-area arrays consisting of LEDs in the three primary colours, said arrays being arranged in rows and columns, and an image generator, in such a way that images are constructed in groups depending on how the LEDs are controlled, the LEDs being pulsed in groups accordingly, and the light is parallelised in a collimator lens. The projector can be used to present films and video sequences in electronic cinema, for presentations, but also in the home cinema sector. |
