Continuously variable transmission consists of housing K, carrier N slidably mounted in said housing K in grooves L, input shaft Vv, output shaft Vi, two flat disc gears Zd and Zd', said disc gears rotatably coupled by gears Zp and Zp'. In the carrier N are mounted two holders Da and Db, freely rotatable within said carrier N, in which are mounted spur gears Z1 and Z'1. Torque transmission occurs via input shaft Vv, disc gears Zd and Zd', and spur gears Z1 and Z'1, which then transfer torque via further gears Z3 and Z'3 to the output shaft. By moving the carrier N along the grooves L and therefore the point of application of spur gears Z1 and Z'1 on disc gears Zd and Zd' the transmission ratio can be steplessly changed. At a given point no torque will be transmitted from input to output shaft (neutral point).
