PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an insulation test method capable of easily and mass productively testing insulation of a battery structure body with high reliability, and to provide a device therefor. SOLUTION: This insulation test method has a process to test and check a contact condition of a first contactor 7 with an outer periphery surface of a sidewall of a sheathing can 6 forming one electrode or a contact condition of a second contactor 9 with the other electrode 8 attached in the sheathing can 6 and connected to an electrode element containing no electrolyte, and a process to measure the insulation level between the both electrodes 6, 8 after testing and checking the contacting conditions of the contactors 7, 9. The insulation test device has a first contactor 7 contacting with an outer periphery surface of a sidewall of a sheathing can 6 forming one electrode, a second contactor 9 on the other electrode 8 attached in the sheathing can 6 and connected to an electrode element containing no electrolyte, connection inspection mechanisms 10, 12 inspecting contact condition of the contactors 7, 9 with the electrodes 6, 8, and an insulation gauge 14 measuring the insulation level between the electrodes 6, 8.
