Aqueous polymer dispersions comprising the following constituents: (a) 40 - 95 wt. % of one or several monomers containing an ethylene unsaturation whereby the homopolymer corresponds to a glass transition temperature (Tv) of less than O DEG C; (b) 4 - 58 wt. % of one or several monomers containing an ethylene unsaturation whereby the homopolymer corresponds to a Tv which is more than O DEG C; (c) 0.05 - 4 wt. % of one or several monomers containing at least two ethylene unsaturations; (d) 0.2 - 5 wt. % of one or several monomers containing an ethylene unsaturation and at least one functional group which can interact at a low temperature at less than 100 DEG C in the cross-linking process in the coalescence phase.
