ALTERNATING CURRENT MOTOR DRIVE FOR ELECTRICAL MULTIPLE UNITS (EMU)

Driving of fan and compressor motors of E14000 type electrical multiple units (EMU) with alternative current drive, by changing them with the asynchronous alternating current motors, is provided. The sub-units are the boost type regulator chopper (6 and 8), PWM inverter (7 and 9), asynchronous AC motor (10 and 11), the filter circuit and the controller circuit (18). The boost type regulator chopper (6 and 8) was developed for boosting the level of output voltage of the diode bridge rectifier on EMU and at the same time for providing voltage regulation. Three phase inverter is supplied by an IGBT (22) chopper which is the new generation power semiconductor. The chopper also has the function of regulating the input power factor at unity value and reducing the harmonics to minimum level.
