The invention relates to a filter fan that is mounted in a recess of a wall, especially the wall of a switch cabinet, switch housing, the housing of a device or the like. Said filter fan comprises at least one fan motor (16, 50) with fan blades and one filter (14) that is mounted upstream of the fan motor (16) in the flow of air. According to the invention, a mounting frame (10) with fastening means (24) and an insertion frame (12) are provided. Said mounting frame (10) is permanently fastened in the recess. The insertion frame (12) is detachably inserted in the mounting frame (10), the fan motor (16) being detachably linked with the insertion frame (12) and the filter (14) being detachably inserted in the insertion frame (12). The fan is further provided with an outlet filter that has the same design as the filter fan but does not comprise a fan motor (16).
