摘要 An integrated polymer electrolyte membrane (PEM) fuel cell membrane, coated with porous graphite layers inoculated with catalyst metal having an adjusted concentration gradient and cluster size, is new. An integrated PEM fuel cell membrane is coated on both sides, preferably by plasma deposition, with porous graphite layers inoculated with catalyst metal which has a maximum optimal concentration in direct contact with the membrane and which decreases to zero with increasing distance from the membrane to minimize the requisite catalyst quantity. The intimate combination of electron conductive porous graphite, ion conductive membrane and catalyst clusters allows the greatest possible interaction to be achieved by adjustment of the catalyst concentration and cluster size.
