The silencer has sound-damping outer walls, and is connected to or placed over a smoke generator. The generator has one or more smoke expansion chambers with sound-absorbent inner lining. The inner lining consists of a closed-pore material, e.g. soft foam, is resistant to the smoke-forming material, and is fire-resistant. A smoke discharge channel connected to the expansion chamber has a similar inner lining. The air intake channel is similarly lined. A blower is contained in a similar chamber.
