An ignitor capable of increasing an productivity and reducing a cost of the mechanism parts of lock means to lock operating members for igniting operati on while maintaining a good operating performance and increasing a reliability throughout long period of time, wherein an operating members (20) performing the igniting operation by driving a valve mechanism (8) and a piezoelectric unit (22) are installed slidably and lock means (27) to lock the operating members (20) is supported rotatably on an ignitor main body part (2), the lo ck means (27) is energized in the direction of locking position by energizing means (31), and the lock means (27) is rotated from the lock position to a release position so that the igniting operation is allowed by the operating members (20).
