The ball joint comprises a bell (2) which is fixed to a first shaft. The bell cavity is partially spherical and has six grooves (9). A nut is fixed to a second shaft (6) whose external surface is partly spherical and has a second set of six grooves (12). The guide lines (16B) of the nut grooves are defined so as to obtain a little varying groove depth. The guide lines (14B) of the bell grooves are symmetrical about the joint bisecting plane (P). Six balls (4) are partially inside the grooves. A ball cage (5) holds the balls in the plane bisecting the joint. The cage has external and internal spherical surfaces conjugate with those of the bell and nut. The nut groove guide line (16B,16C) is a curve tangent to the tangent (T) at the first point (B) in the nut groove passing through the reference point (V).
|
