<p>Video images are coded using an MPEG system, and the codes are packetized by a packetizer as differentiated by the picture type. Packetized I pictures and P pictures are sent out in synchronism with video frames. Each B picture is sent out following the sending of an I picture or a P picture. Depending on the extent of congestion of a communication line on which the pictures are sent out, packets of B pictures which cannot be transmitted are discarded. Layered coding is also used for the coding of video images, and layers lower in priority of B pictures which cannot be transmitted are discarded. <IMAGE></p> |
