The tool has a pair of sloping cutting edges (5) as well as a pair of cutting edges (6) horizontal to the workpiece. The tool is moves along the line of the edge of the workpiece in one direction and is operated in a plunger action at right angles to the edge. The leading edges of the tool prepare the workpiece edge by partial cutting. This material is removed by the subsequent movement of the other cutting edges.
