Procedure in which the coupling slip is determined using the difference between the motor rotation speed (10) and the gear train (11) rotation speed. The torque from the coupling during normal driving is transferred in a slip free manner, but when a sudden change in loading occurs then an artificial coupling slip is produced, which is then gradually reduced to zero. An Independent claim is made for a device for automatic coupling control using the above procedure.
