The device has a highly sensitive black and white CCD solid state video camera (13). A color divider (9-12) separates the two or more spectral regions of the received light into at least two spatially separate parallel image planes on the camera. An image processor (18) receives the image regions in sequence and delays them relatively in their associated channels (A,B) so that they are output from the channels at the same time.
