PURPOSE: A method of chasing eyes and detecting a sleep driving at night is provided to decide the sleep driving by detecting driver's eyes from a video signal of a driver exactly during night driving. CONSTITUTION: A CCD(Charge Coupled Device) camera detects a face image of a driver and transmits a gray level signal when an infrared lamp emits infrared rays over the driver's face. If the driver does not put on glasses, the pupil of the eye becomes white from the image. A sleep driving decide unit eliminates a dark gray level part except a light gray level part through a binary process of the face image of the driver. After detecting the eye of the driver from the driver image, the sleep driving decide unit decides an opening/closing of the driver's eyes depending on the number of pixels of the light part. If the sleep driving decide unit decides that the driver closes the eyes during predetermined time, the sleep driving decide unit determines that the driver drives a vehicle asleep. Therefore, the sleep driving decide unit generates an alarm to help the driver drive safely.
