The invention concerns a manpower-driven cycle comprising a driving mechanism (6) transforming the reciprocating motion of a handle (8) into a rotary motion of the rear wheel (5). A steering and maintaining device (DM) comprises a telescopic actuating system (25) with articulated tubes along parallelograms deformable in the direction of the rod (1). Axial centring means comprise at least a pair of toothed meshing gears or sectors linked by connecting rods (26, 27) to the telescopic actuating system (25) to permanently maintain the handle (8) axis in the vertical median plane passing through the rod (1).
