The method is used in metallurgy. It improves the recuperation of the heat of the waste gases for preheating of the burden. The method includes heating in a channel-type induction furnace for burden consisting of metal-containing and carbon-containing component where the metal-containing component is reduced. During the process at least part of the gaseous products produced in the furnace serves for burden preheating. The latter is charged in an elongated chamber with one or more channels across which run the gaseous products produced in the furnace and the burden preheating before it is being fed into the furnace.
