PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To form a personal font with an outline font corresponding to each font of writing by generating an outline font of hand-written character by generating contour data of a character vector based on a corresponding contour information to a font feature dictionary made matching with. SOLUTION: A generating means 50 for radical fonts reads a vector pattern dot string for every stroke of each radical from a radical vector file 20. By making matching of this vector with a vector dictionary within a font feature dictionary file 40 and obtaining the width information of an outline contour from the contour information corresponding to the vector dictionary, a radical font file 60 is generated. From the radical font file 60 formed and a font structure dictionary file 70 describing structures of character fonts, a character font having personality is generated by a character font forming means 80 and is stored in a personal font file 90. Consequently a beautiful personal font 90 reflecting personality can be obtained.
