The invention relates to the use of an antibody to detect and/or quantify and/or isolate basophiles and/or mast cells and/or precursor cells of basophiles and/or mast cells and/or a surface structure of all of said cells. The antibody binds to the surface structure of the cells with which the antibody with the designation 97A6 can bond, whereby said antibody is produced from hybridome cells and is released. Said hybridome cells were deposited with the German Collection of Microorganisms and Cell Cultures, GMBH on 12.02.97 under the following number: DSM ACC 2297 in accordance with the Budapest Treaty.
