PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable association with a dead man switch and to make input operation efficient by adding a function of making the dead man switch effective and ineffective. SOLUTION: A vibration sensor 4 is provided in the portable monitor device. When a display unit is held in a hand, the dead man switch 13 is made effective, input information from a touch key 121 is stored in a DRAM 16 through a key G/A17, and ON/OFF information of the vibration sensor 4 and dead man switch 13 is sent to the input terminal of DMS of a CPU 11, which received the input information even if the dead man switch 13 is not pressed. When this device is hung on a wall, etc., and held vertically, the vibration sensor 4 turns ON and the dead man switch 13 is made ineffective. Consequently, an operator is able to operate the portable monitor device without pressing the dead man switch 13 and operation is facilitated.
