The invention relates to a process for manufacturing decorative glass items, particularly glass items consisting of a glass body coated in a metallic lattice structure, such as glass guards for lamps, household or decorative glass vessels externally coated in a metallic lattice structure and any other similar glass items for various applications. According to the invention, the process comprises a first step of manufacturing the metallic structure, preferably made of iron or iron alloy, treated and optionally galvanized, then the step of preforming the (silicic-calcic-sodic) glass item which, after having been locally treated, is introduced into the metallic structure, being formed in the final shape and subjected to annealling, finished and optionally subjected to regalvanization, then the chemical colouring of the the metallic structure, washing and drying the item take place, followed by the application of a protective coating onto the metallic structure.
