摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make it possible to display videos having good color reproducibility by making it possible to reduce the color irregularity occurring in a light source and spatial modulation element even if this color irregularity tends to appear on a video output screen in a video display device of a system disposed with a light source on the rear surface of the spatial modulation element. SOLUTION: The light emitted from the light emission region of the light source 11 is subjected to spatial modulation according to the video signals inputted to the spatial modulation element 12, by which the videos are displayed. The video signals are controlled by correction coefficient memory means 16 and an input signal correction means 13 in order to correct the color irregularity based on the light emission region and the spatial modulation element. The video signals outputted from a signal processing means 14 are multiplied by the correction coefficient described above, by which are correction coefficient is so calculated that the three excited values of the light from the spatial modulation element 12 are made the same in the entire region.
