PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To shorten the data transfer time and to lighten the load on the internal memory of a printer by outputting compressed image data from which segments unnecessary for printing are deleted to a printing device. SOLUTION: When the output of a file of compressed image data is requested, a next segment in the file is retrieved. The retrieved segment is analyzed to decide whether this segment is needed for printing. Further, it is decided whether or not all segments are needed for printing. When all the segments are not needed for printing, new segments are generated by deleting only unnecessary thumbnail data from the segments. Then segments judged to be necessary for printing or the newly generated segments are sent out to the printer. |
