PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve a micro-linearity characteristic by containing carbon black and carbon fiber, each having a certain range of volume % in a resistor base material, adopting a substantially normal distribution as a grain size distribution of the carbon fiber, and containing the certain volume % or more of the entire carbon fiber within a range of a certain grain size. SOLUTION: A resistor contains carbon black and carbon fiber, each having a volume % of 15 to 20 in a resistor base material. The grain distribution of the carbon fiber is a substantially normal distribution and 80 volume % of the entire distribution is contained within a range of 1 to 20μm. The carbon fiber is about 8μm in fiber diameter and is formed by pulverizing and mixing carbon fibers whose lengths range from about 10 to 100μm. And then, a coupling operation is performed in which the pulverized carbon fibers are mixed with an aminosilanate coupling agent, water, and ethanol, and are stirred, filtered, and dried. Therefore, wear resistance and micro-linearity can be achieved.
